Billy Mays Dead: Infomercial King & OxiClean Pitchman Dies at 50

Infomercial king Billy Mays--the TV pitchman with the pitch-black beard and deep raspy voice--has died at the age of 50. Mays is best known for his infomercials selling OxiClean, Orange Glow, and Mighty Putty and for the Discovery TV series Pitchmen.

Mays was found dead at his Tampa Bay home early Sunday morning. A cause of death has not been determined.

Mays' death comes at a time when he is at the peak of his fame. His brash style and dark beard had made him something of a cult celebrity and internet meme. Just this week, Mays made an appearance on Late Night With Conan O'Brien. Earlier this month, Mays was in New York to judge a Billy May look-alike contest, featuring people from around the country wearing dark beards that looks they were drawn on a Magic Marker.

Mays was give the star treatment by New York tourists.

Michael Jackson, defined in equal parts as the world’s greatest entertainer and perhaps its most enigmatic figure, was about to attempt one of the greatest comebacks of all time. Then his life was cut shockingly — and so far, mysteriously — short.

The 50-year-old musical superstar died Thursday, July 25th, just as he was preparing for what would be a series of 50 concerts starting July 13 at London’s famed 02 arena. Jackson had been spending hours and hours toiling with a team of dancers for a performance he and his fans hoped would restore his tarnished legacy to its proper place in pop.

An autopsy was planned for Friday, though results were not likely to be final until toxicology tests could be completed, a process that could take several days and sometimes weeks. However, if a cause can be determined by the autopsy, they will announce the results, said Los Angeles County Coroner Investigator Jerry McKibben.

We've just learned Michael Jackson has died. He was 50.
Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.
Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.
Jackson had 13 number one hits during his solo career.

Nas & Damian Marley’s New Album “Distant Relatives”

The album features the signature instrumentation and musicianship of Marley with the hard hitting beats and lyrics of Nas. Throughout the course of their musical careers, the duo has taught each other and always admired each other’s style. Since first meeting in 1996 the two artists have shared a mutual respect and camaraderie that was most recently showcased on “Road to Zion,” a standout track from Damian’s critically acclaimed album, Welcome to Jamrock. After having such a positive experience working together, they have now joined forces again for Distant Relatives.

The album title refers not only to the bond of Nas and Damian, but the bond to their African ancestry, which inspired the album both musically and lyrically. “Africa is the backbone of the world and the foundation of everything and Africans are in a situation where they need help more than anywhere else,” notes Damian Marley. “We know there are dire situations here in America but when you look at America—with public libraries and free education—these are not opportunities most Africans have. It’s a completely different scale of trying to help people. As humans beings, we’re part of a human family.”

Nas agrees, “As an American, we have so much even in a so-called recession that a neighborhood like Queensbridge or Red Hook is Beverly Hills compared to the way people are living in Nigeria, Sierre Leone, and Ghana,” says the emcee. “So obviously if we making records with that theme, there’s gonna be things I want to build on. I think Africa has a lot to teach us.”

The release is now scheduled for August, 21st 2009!

Shaq Traded To The Cavs???

Shaquille O’Neal (Shaq) has been traded to the Caveliers has part of the pre-dealing leading into today’s NBA Draft.

Under the deal, Shaq goes to Cleveland for Ben Wallace, Sasha Pavlovic, the 46th pick in Thursday’s NBA draft and $500,000 according to numerous reports. The Suns currently hold the No. 14, 46, 48 and 57 picks.

The 37-year-old O’Neal was a third-team all-NBA pick after he averaged 17.8 points and 8.4 rebounds per game, but would appear to be mostly a financial trade for The Suns, who will save $9 million a year with the deal.

As of late Wednesday night, the deal with awaiting final approval by both teams owners, although this is expected to be a formality with the official announcement Thursday morning

LCBO strike deadline extended

Brides, bar owners and casual drinkers jammed local liquor outlets yesterday, depleting shelves as talks continued toward a strike deadline.
“Nothing brings Canadians together like shopping for booze,” Kerim Sursal said as cars circled for a parking spot at the downtown Queens Quay store.

Loading 50 bottles of wine into his trunk, Sursal said he was stocking up for his Aug. 1 wedding.

But the panic might have been premature. About 40 minutes before the 12:01 a.m. deadline at which a walkout was to begin if there was no deal, the Ontario Public Service Employees Union put a statement on its website saying the strike deadline had been delayed while talks continued.

Cops seize guns after crashing MMVA bash

What was promised to be "the hottest" MuchMusic Video Awards after-party was broken up by police who found three guns at the downtown celebration early yesterday morning.

The Century Room event, presented by 1LoveTO.com and The NE Inc., was promised to be "the hottest" MMVA after-party on a Facebook group posted by organizers.

These photos were posted on T-Pains Twitter page, showing off his "Big Ass Chain" litterally. Hmmm i thought we were in a Recession? Apparently not for T-Pain and his $410,000 Chain! This thing is a 197-karat accessory, weighing in at 10 pounds.

"Dudes and girls, I just wanna give a quick preview of the last chain you'll ever like," Pain wrote. "I'm shuttin' it down."

"Very very real I don't know what fake feel like. $410,000. Hola señor recession proof," he added.

Pain breaks out the ridiculous piece of jewelry at a time when critics and some artists are saying the era of bling is coming to an end.

Rihanna's new song titled 'Te Amo' which was originally written by James Fauntleroy, is the new talk on the internet. Rihanna isn't a lesbian people! So stop spreading rumors, it's just a cover of Fauntleroy's Song.

The song narrates a girl who is trying to tell her girl friend that she loves her but she is not a lesbian. It is unclear whether the song is recorded for Rihanna's new album or it is just a demo for other artist's project.

Chris Brown Pleads Guilty to Assault on Rihanna

R&B singer Chris Brown pleaded guilty on Monday to assaulting his former girlfriend, pop star Rihanna in an agreement with prosecutors that calls for him to spend five years of probation.

Brown, also will have to perform at least 180 days of community service in his home state of Virginia.

The 20-year-old singer entered the plea at a preliminary hearing in a Los Angeles courtroom. He had been accused of assaulting and making criminal threats against Rihanna in February on the eve of the music industry's Grammy Awards.

There was no plea agreement on the threat charge and a formal sentencing was scheduled for August 5. He had faced four years in prison if convicted in a trial on both charges.

"I think it's commendable that you took responsibility for your conduct sir," Judge Patricia Schnegg told Brown.

Brown, dressed in a plaid gray suit and accompanied by his mother, also was issued a stay-away order to keep his distance from Rihanna.

Rihanna, also appeared in court but only after Brown left. Her attorney, Donald Etra, had said that she was prepared to testify against him.

"Rihanna believes this is a fair and just resolution to this case," Etra said outside the courthouse.

It all went down @ Century Room - King St. Toronto. Drake's official Much Music Awards After Party. The club was slammed, a bit over capacity i would say but the music played by Dj Crunch & Future D Prince made it all good.

Drizzy's party was going insane .............Until everyone who was leaving the club had to get searched, due to a "gun rumor" within the club. Apprently someone got stabbed in the washroom also, but we have'nt heard any further details on that

Swat / Police Officers were pointing their guns / rifles at everyone walking out of the club, a few people got arrested as well.

The promo for Monday night's special episode of Jon & Kate Plus 8 promises that the embattled Jon and Kate Gosselin will make a major announcement.

A source close to the situation tells Radar Online that the Jon and Kate announcement is what we all assumed it to be: They are getting a divorce.

The source says that Kate Gosselin recently met with a divorce lawyer. Another source says that the couple had previously agreed to separate by July 15.

That timetable has now been pushed forward.

Radar also claims exclusive knowledge that for all intents and purposes, the marriage is already over and Jon Gosselin will file divorce papers next week.

Meanwhile, People reports that Jon was apartment hunting in New York City this morning, further fueling rumors that a Gosselin split is imminent.

T-Pain Brings Auto Tune To The I-Phone!

Antares' Auto-Tune plug-in has never been more popular, and the latest rumour is that we'll soon be seeing a version that runs on the iPhone/iPod touch platform.

One of the software's most prominent users is T-Pain, and he's revealed to Time magazine that the app is currently in development.

"It's gonna be real cool," he says. "Basically, you can add Auto-Tune to your voice and send it to your friends and put it on the web. You'll be able to sound just like me."

Whether this will be anything more than a novelty item remains to be seen, but if it is released, prepare to be on the receiving end of a slew of robotised voice messages.

Despite its ubiquity, T-Pain has also revealed that he has no plans to stop using Auto-Tune, and that the plug-in contains plenty of untapped potential.
